Virginia Monthly Lease Agreement

A "tenancy-at-will," or a month-to-month rental agreement in Virginia, is a lease arrangement that allows a tenant to stay on the property and pay rent until either the landlord or the tenant decides to discontinue the tenancy by providing a termination notice. There is no expiry date, and it only ends when the landlord or renter cancels with written notice. The landlord may also amend the lease conditions by giving the same notice (e.g., increasing the rent). It is advised that the landlord use the same tenant screening procedure as they normally would by requesting a rental application .
